OKN

The Open Knowledge Network (OKN) initiated by One World International is an open platform to share knowledge that add value to people’s lives. OKN is designed to support the creation and exchange of local content in local languages among local people supported by a range of information and communication technologies to fight poverty and ensure enhancement. Under this network the contributor guarantees and warrants the information is true and accurate and not defamatory or obscene and is legal to publish in this country. Thus OKN is a human network, which collects shares and disseminates local knowledge and is supported by flexible technical solution for empowerment of local communities.

Datamation’s role

To further the use of OKN, Datamation Foundation Charitable trust has signed a formal MoU with One World International. The work is being carried out in partnership with Chetanalaya (an NGO) in Khichripur Trilokpuri area and Babool-Ulm- Madarasa in Seelampur. Under this partnership following objectives have been set:

• Will help migrant community to keep in touch with their rural roots.
• Help us to continue our core of ICT for poverty reduction in a knowledge economy.
• Help us in our core organizational philosophy of gender empowerment with the help of education, health and constant skills improvement process.

We intend to fulfill these objectives by:

• Extensive use of digital photography and audio recording
• Cable caste of few knowledge templates.
• Quarterly FM or AIR broadcast.
• Cinema slides of few knowledge templates
• Monthly local news letter.
