Datamation Foundation awarded the silver icon for ‘Save the Girl Child’ project The National e-Governance "Silver Icon" has been conferred to the Datamation Foundation under the Exemplary Leadership and ICT Achievement Category. Datamation is the only private, non-governmental initiative supported by Plan International, chosen for the second highest category of awards this year, in a galaxy of Govt. e-Governance Projects http://www.darpg.nic.in/awards2004.asp The award is for Datamation’s "SAVE THE GIRL CHILD" e-Governance and e-Complaint lodging process against illegal clinics and doctors selectively aborting female foetuses; in the process disturbing our sex-ratios indiscriminately. The e-Governance features www.indiafemalefoeticide.org work in tandem with an effective e-advocacy campaign that has reached to over 6 million homes in India. The award was conferred to the Foundation at the 8th National e-Governance Conference in Bhubneswar, Orissa on February 3rd at the inaugural session by the Honorable Union Minister, IT, Government of India. Hopefully the cry of the unborn "girl" child has caught notice of our Government and Ministries, who would enact severe legislations and implementing machinery to cut down such heinous crimes.
